Who is it for?

When difficulties emerge, issues of personal power and influence are often involved. It is all too easy to see these issues as a fight between right and wrong, a search for a winner and loser, a battle between yourself and others. There are two main disadvantages to this approach. The problems which arise are often more about relationships and the differences between people than they are about issues.

Course Objectives

Develops an understanding of best practice when faced with workplace problems and an ability to manage these effectively and proactively.

Understand relevant employment legislation promote positive performance management within an organisation.

Understand how to deal with problem situations in a timely manner.

Be able to investigate disciplinary situations, conduct a disciplinary interview, determine the levels and degrees of discipline and ensure these are actioned appropriately.

Develop an understanding of individual rights, roles and responsibilities.

Understand the importance of dealing with grievances and grumbles at the earliest opportunity and have developed appropriate interpersonal skills to assist with this.

Be able to identify performance gaps and propose courses of action to help overcome these.

Recognise the importance of note-taking and record keeping.

Be able to apply your organisation’s grievance and disciplinary procedures.
